چکیده
Abstract Popular culture and medical lore have long postulated a connection between full moon exacerbations of psychiatric disorders. We wanted to empirically analyze the hypothesis that suicides are increased during period around moons. analyzed pre-COVID from Marion County Coroner’s Office (n = 776), show deaths by suicide significantly week (p 0.037), with older individuals (age ≥ 55) showing stronger effect 0.019). also examined in our dataset which hour day (3–4 pm, p 0.035), month year (September, 0.09) most suicide. had blood samples on subset subjects 45), enabled us look at possible molecular mechanisms. tested list top biomarkers for suicidality 154) previous studies ours 7 , assess them predictive. The predictive death moon, peak day, year, respectively, compared outside those periods, appear be enriched circadian clock genes. For it is AHCYL2, ACSM3, AK2, RBM3. GSK3B, PRKCB. TBL1XR1 PRKCI. Half these genes modulated expression lithium valproate opposite direction suicidality, all depression alcohol same as suicidality. These data suggest there temporal effects possibly mediated biological clocks, pointing changes ambient light (timing intensity) therapeutically addressable target decrease can coupled pharmacological addiction treatment preventive interventions.

Climate change effects on economic growth: mixed empirical evidence
West Africa is vulnerable to the effects of climate change. This paper analyzed the impacts of climate change on economic growth in Anglophone West Africa with similar background, during the periods 1969-2016. Five growth model equations have been developed to incorporate climate change variables into the model. Panel data estimations such as the fixed effect model, random effect model and Haus...
متن کاملPharmacological and Molecular Evidence of Neuroprotective Curcumin Effects Against Biochemical and Behavioral Sequels Caused by Methamphetamine: Possible Function of CREB-BDNF Signaling Pathway
Introduction: The neuroprotective impact of curcumin and the role of CREB (cyclic AMP response element binding protein)-BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) signaling pathway was evaluated in methamphetamine (METH)-induced neurodegeneration in rats. Methods: Sixty adult male rats were randomly divided into 6 groups. While normal saline and 10 mg/kg METH were administered intraperitoneally ...

Death certification of "suicide by cop".
Death certification of "suicide by cop" is controversial among some medical examiners and coroners. We present five such deaths that were certified as suicides and discuss the medico-legal issues involved with these certifications. To certify such a death as a suicide, certain criteria should be met. Suicide by cop is a circumstance that involves competing intentional acts that may result in di...
